Come by to test our formulations!

After the in-cosmetics is before the CosmeticBusiness

Let's innovate together!

After three years in a row in which the world's largest trade fair for our industry was repeatedly postponed or canceled, it seemed almost unreal to travel to in-cosmetics in Paris in April.

On the morning of the first day of the trade show, the mood was still somewhat subdued, but as the event progressed, a cheerful atmosphere settled in. Both we as exhibitors and the visitors who came to our booth were happy to finally meet live again. Overall, the conversations were much more intensive, because the participants were well prepared and had concrete inquiries in their luggage.

The highlight of our trade show appearance was our formulation kit, which was created in the new laboratory of the STOCKMEIER House of INNOVATIONS. Five formulations on the top trends from the cosmetics market were presented under the headline STOCKMEIER 100 %. At the Sensory Bar, visitors were invited to test three of these formulations directly.

Now our bags are already packed for CosmeticBusiness in Munich. Meet the STOCKMEIER Personal Care Team at booth D19 in hall 2 of the MOC. You are cordially invited to test our formulations!

Ecogreen Oleochemicals

Emollients and their spreading behavior

In the manufacture of lipid-containing cosmetics, the spreading behavior of oils and emollients is an important selection criterion. A distinction is made between high (fast), medium and low (slow) spreading oils. Lipids are divided into these categories on the basis of their distribution and absorption behavior on the skin.

Ecogreen's portfolio has several emollients that can be used to improve the feel of emulsions. The table shows a list of these oils depending on their spreading value.

BRB

Smart ingredients for refined cosmetic formulations

The product performance benefits of silicones can often be achieved even with small amounts. BRB offers a wide range of solutions in all areas of personal care, including hair care, skin care and decorative cosmetics.

BRB presented four new formulations under the title "Smart Beauty" at in-cosmetics in Paris. We would like to present one of them in more detail here:

It is a 2in1 product that cleanses but also cares at the same time, so that no body lotion needs to be used after showering.

A Pre-mix glycerol and natrosol and fill up with water. Heat the phase to 70-75°C.

B Weigh into a separate container and heat to 70-75°C as well. Then add the fat phase (B) to the water phase (A) and homogenise well.

C Stir in evenly at 60°C.

D Stir in evenly at 45°C and fill into crucibles while still warm. Allow to cool.

Silicones improve the efficacy and sensory properties of formulations. For me, this is what makes a smart cosmetic product!

5 Questions to...

Dirk Seidel

Managing Director STOCKMEIER Chemie GmbH & Co. KG

1. Since when has the new speciality laboratory under the name "STOCKMEIER House of INNOVATIONS" existed?

The construction phase and the starting signal have unfortunately been delayed again and again due to the last Corona waves. We were all the more pleased when we were finally able to put our new application laboratories into operation on 1 March 2022. As early as April 2022, at in-cosmetics in Paris, we were able to successfully present the first formulations.

2. What services are offered at the STOCKMEIER House of INNOVATIONS?

We essentially concentrate on three areas. Application recommendations, such as guide formulations, processing and dosage instructions, mainly for our customers in the cosmetics and homecare sector:

  • Contract formulation, from raw material selection to marketable formulation.
  • Customer and supplier trainings and seminars, marketing and tutorials (videos)
  • Raw material testing and qualification of alternative raw materials

3. What equipment are you particularly proud of?

We have built a fully equipped application lab, but I am especially proud of our employees who fill these labs with life and a lot of ideas. Our technical staff in the lab are also actively supported by our marketing team. After all, we would also like to show what innovations we have to offer.

4. Is the STOCKMEIER House of INNOVATIONS also available to external visitors?

The concept of the STOCKMEIER House of INNOVATIONS includes the specific use as a conference and training centre. For this purpose, a larger seminar room is directly connected, where one can seek a common exchange about the results from the laboratories. The STOCKMEIER House of INNOVATIONS is intended to be a meeting place for application engineers and product developers. However, we are also always happy to invite buyers and marketing to joint seminars.

5. What do you hope for from the lab in the future?

Today, it is no longer sufficient to market only individual raw materials. STOCKMEIER wants to offer comprehensive solutions and ideas and thus help our customers and suppliers to use the advantages of the raw materials properly in the market. To this end, we will continue to invest more in the area of special chemicals and application consulting in the future.
