In July of this year, the majority of the Italian chemical distributor Gamma Chimica S.p.A. was acquired. As a family business from Bielefeld, we are not only strongly represented in our home market of Germany, but also in Spain, France, Benelux, Austria, Switzerland, Portugal and Central Eastern Europe. With Gamma Chimica, the Italian market is now also being further developed.

For us as a personal care team, this creates new opportunities to form a variety of synergies with our European colleagues. Therefore, in 2023 we will continue to steadily expand our raw materials portfolio, seek out new trends in the cosmetics industry and come up with innovative formulations. Pureact I-85P (INCI: SODIUM COCOYL ISETHIONATE, SCI for short) is an anionic powder surfactant, free of sulphates and preservatives. It is highly foaming in both hard and soft water. Pureact I-85P is available as a mass balance product according to RSPO.
 
In rinse-off formulations in the personal care sector, the input concentration is between 2 and 60 %. The active content of the powder is at least 82 %. This product is thus more concentrated than its predecessors Pureact I-78P and I-80P.

In January 2020, NATRUE introduced the possibility for raw material manufacturers to submit their products for evaluation to one of the NATRUE-approved certifiers. This option is intended to facilitate the formulation of NATRUE-certified finished products by making it clear at the raw material selection stage whether the raw materials are suitable for the intended formulation.
 
For many of our raw materials that are used in NATRUE formulations or could be suitable for them, we have already initiated the approval process. In the future, we will keep you informed here about raw materials from our portfolio that receive NATRUE approval or certification.

Chemically, retinol (vitamin A1) belongs to the group of retinoids and is one of the fat-soluble vitamins. In cosmetics, retinol and its esters are mainly used in anti-ageing products because they stimulate the skin's own collagen synthesis and thus smooth the skin and improve its structure. However, retinoids can cause skin irritation. Therefore, scientists are looking for ingredients that can provide the benefits of retinoids without the irritation. This is where bakuchiol comes in.

Bakuchiol is an active ingredient extracted from the "babchi" plant (Psoralea corylifolia). The plant is native to India and is used in traditional Ayurvedic medicine to relieve various skin conditions. Modern applications show that bakuchiol stimulates collagen production, thickens the skin structure, accelerates cell renewal and has antioxidant, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. The undesirable side effects known from retinol could not be observed. 

The bakuchiol used in the oil serum is an oil-soluble, slightly yellow liquid with a faint odour. The recommended concentration is 0.5 to 1 %. The active ingredient is 100% natural and vegan.

1. How did you come to work for STOCKMEIER?

After my training as a wholesale and export merchant in a smaller medium-sized distribution company for chemical raw materials in 2015, which I completed as chamber best within two years, I was able to gain another five years of experience in the distribution of chemical raw materials for the personal care and nutraceuticals sectors. STOCKMEIER was, of course, always present in the market due to its high profile.

After working for my former employer in Switzerland for almost a year, I felt the need for a change. I wanted to take the next step in my career with a large and internationally active company. My choice quickly fell on STOCKMEIER. The fact that a company of this size continues to be family-owned speaks for itself, in my opinion. The family environment and the way I was welcomed into the team exceeded my expectations in a positive sense.

I am driven by the need to meet the requirements of our customers and stakeholders time and time again. Fortunately, working out customer-oriented solutions with the help of experience and creativity never makes our work boring. True to the motto: We do the impossible immediately, miracles take a little longer!

In addition to looking after our personal care customers in southern Germany, Austria and Switzerland as part of the team, as Development Manager I will use the existing synergies to build up a coherent portfolio for the nutraceuticals/nutritional supplements sector. The cosmetics and nutritional supplements or nutraceuticals sectors offer a large overlap in the the raw materials used. The resulting addition to the existing portfolio is, in my view, the logical consequence of exploiting our existing expertise and thus, to a certain extent, completing it.

In short, general interaction with different people is something I particularly enjoy. I am a positive person who likes to interact with other people.

My family, especially my little daughter, is my balance. When she runs towards me beaming with joy, the stress of everyday life is forgotten in an instant.
